IN THE NEWS: LIVING IN A CAR

"Living in a Car, Wishing on a Star"

A Feng Shui Car Makeover

By INESSA FREYLEKHMAN

Recently at one of my Feng Shui workshops, I asked everyone to draw a sketch of their home. When I saw Amy's drawing, I was stunned. "You live in an oval house?" I asked her. "No, it's my car." "You live in your car!" I yelled unable to contain my shock.

After 1460 nights (yes, I counted) scrunched up in the front seat of her car, Amy is in better shape than most people that have their own bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens. She credits her good posture to running, a regular yoga practice and taking vitamins daily.

Amy shared with me that she has been living in her Mercury Tracer for the last four years. She came to Hollywood from Iowa to pursue a life long dream of being a comedian. This small town girl has definitely redefined the expression, "roughing it."

I was so touched by Amy's desire to overcome the obstacles to her success, that I offered her a complimentary consultation. That evening, immediately following my class, we drove to the parking lot of Ralph's in Culver City, CA, where I performed my very first Feng Shui Car Makeover.

What is a Feng Shui Car Makeover?

By introducing objects that have meaning to you to their corresponding sections like, "Career, Prosperity, Fame, Relationships, etc.," you can strengthen that area of your life. Every space has nine quadrants and in Feng Shui we superimpose a grid called the Ba-gua over your bedroom, house, lot, and desk and yes even your car to determine where to make the necessary enhancements.

In Amy's situation we first needed to clear the car of any negative energy, so we did a sacred Tibetan Buddhist space clearing ritual using nine orange peals and a bowl of water. This helps alleviate unconscious debris which can get stuck in the upholstery of the vehicle.

Next we changed her mental attitude from one of lack to one of abundance by stimulating the "prosperity section", which is located in the driver's seat. We hung inspiring words in the mini mirror above her head, so that every time she looks up it will remind her that she has the ability to manifest anything she wants!

To really transform her car into a money magnet, she placed some cash by the gas pedals. Now, every time she pushes the gas it will activate her wealth, and no matter where she goes in life, she will always be "rolling in dough."

We also activated the Fame section, which is where the stick shift resides. We tied a red tassel (the color for fame and integrity) with the intention that she attracts the right agent to represent her. To protect her reputation and credibility from maligned people and situations, we introduced a small red cactus. The sharp points from the cactus create chi arrows deflecting anything that is not for Amy's highest good.

These are some examples of Feng Shui "cures" that we used to reinforce her positive intentions, so that every time she sees them they will make her feel more and more empowered and capable of having her dreams become a reality.

In other words, what we focus on grows! And even the things that are out of sight, like clutter, are not always out of mind. Objects act as metaphors. They condition our thoughts. You don't need to see them for them to have an impact on you! Often times we use architectural terms to describe a problem. Words like, blocked, stuck, jammed, choked sharp, etc. Take a look at what you complain about the most. It might be a clue to what's out of balance in your environment.

One of my clients complained that she felt blocked in the area of romance in her relationship with her husband. When I looked under her bed, there was an old wooden door. As a rule, doors symbolize opportunities and this one was shutting out the intimacy she wanted. She moved the door immediately and is now experiencing a greater flow of sensual energy between her and her husband.

The reality of any spiritual work you do is that there are no quick fixes. The result it tends to produce is determined by your willingness to grow and let go! I have seen Feng Shui manifest huge results right away for some and for others it takes a little more time to release old patterns that were holding them back up until now.

As for Amy, I spoke with her a few days ago and she says that since our consultation she has had a major breakthrough. She landed her first commercial! There's an old expression, "You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created the problem in the first place!" Amy is now ready to move forward in her acting career with a brand new level of clarity and awareness of her role as co- creator.

I look forward to following Amy's story. Now that we have shifted her energy, all sorts of great opportunities are on their way!

The bottom line is that when your inner and outer space is in alignment, you become a magnet for attracting what you wish for most deeply. There is nothing you can't have in this universe. It's a matter of asking and then surrendering your expectation of how you think it's supposed show up. What I love about Feng Shui I practice is that it's simple, creative and doesn't require a lot of money to make improvements. However, moving objects alone is not enough; you must always add your intention.

Remember, energy follows thought and when the intention is clear, many methods appear!
